Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Prept (“Prept”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Prept mobile app on iOS and Android, and the Prept website at prept.pro (together, the “Service”).

Prept is a workout app: it lets you save workout videos you find on platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, turns them into structured, step-by-step workouts, and helps you plan your training and track your sessions and progress over time — including, if you choose, daily progress photos and weight tracking.

Prept is currently built and operated by an independent developer, not a registered company. Wherever this policy says “we” or “Prept”, it refers to that developer acting as the operator of the Service.

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address, a display name, and an encrypted password (or, if you sign in with Apple, the identifier and email Apple shares with us). This is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase.

Profile information

Your display name and, if you choose to add one, a profile photo (“avatar”) that you upload.

Workout & fitness data

The core of the Service. This includes: video links you save; workout details extracted from those videos or from images/PDFs you upload (exercise names, sets, reps, weights, duration, tips); collections and workout plans you build; your training schedule; per-session logs (sets completed, weight used, reps, notes, session duration); muscle-group / body-map selections; and progress statistics calculated from the above (streaks, volume, estimated calories).

Progress photos & body measurements

If you use the progress-photo feature, we store the photos you take or upload (one per day), together with any weight and height you log alongside them and your preferred weight unit. Progress photos are private by default: they are stored in access-controlled cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) and served only through short-lived signed URLs tied to your account. Nobody else can see them unless you explicitly create a public gallery link (see “Sharing workouts & progress publicly” below). You can delete individual photos, or all of them, at any time in the app.

Content you import

The URLs and any images, screenshots or PDFs you submit for extraction, plus the metadata (caption, thumbnail, source platform) publicly available at that link.

Subscription & purchase information

If you subscribe to Prept Pro, purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We (via our subscription platform, RevenueCat) receive your entitlement status, purchase and renewal dates, and anonymised transaction identifiers. We never see or store your card number.

Usage & analytics data

We use PostHog to understand how the app is used: screens viewed, features used, app opens, general session length, crash and performance diagnostics, coarse device type/OS version, and language/locale.

Push notification data

If you enable notifications, we store a device push token so we can deliver reminders (for example, a scheduled workout or a re-engagement nudge). You can disable these at any time in Settings or at the OS level.

Support communications

If you email us, we keep the correspondence (and any information you choose to include in it) to respond to you and improve the Service.

Technical data

IP address, device identifiers, app version and operating system, collected automatically for security, debugging and analytics purposes.

When you paste a link from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or another supported platform, Prept fetches only the publicly available information at that link — the video itself, its caption, and its thumbnail — in order to extract a workout from it.

Prept never asks for or accesses your login credentials on those platforms, never connects to your account, and cannot see your direct messages, followers, or private content. You are responsible for only submitting content you have the right to save and use.

Sharing is always opt-in. Nothing you save in Prept is visible to anyone else unless you explicitly share it:

• Workouts & workout plans — you can generate a public link (on prept.pro) for a workout or plan. Anyone with the link can view its title, exercises, sets/reps, source attribution and preview imagery, and can save a copy into their own Prept library. Your set logs, progress data and photos are never included.
• Progress gallery — you can create one public link to your progress-photo gallery. Your logged weight and weight trend are hidden on that page unless you switch on the “show weight” option.
• Share images — when you share a workout or your progress, the app may generate a preview image (for example, a workout card or a before/after comparison) that is included with what you share.

You can stop sharing at any time from the app: unsharing a workout or plan, or revoking your gallery link, makes the public page inaccessible immediately. Note that if someone saved a copy of a shared workout into their own library, or downloaded a shared image, before you stopped sharing, that copy remains theirs — treat public links like anything else you post on the internet.

• Provide, operate and sync the Service across your devices.
• Extract structured workouts from the videos, images or PDFs you submit.
• Build your training plan, reminders, and progress statistics.
• Process and manage your subscription and entitlements.
• Send service, transactional and (if you opt in) reminder notifications.
• Analyse aggregated usage to fix bugs, improve reliability and decide what to build next.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• Translate database content (for example, a workout title) into your selected language using Google Translate, when your language isn’t English.
• Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse and security issues.
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the Service on our behalf, each bound to use it solely to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage (avatars, images).
• Cloudflare (R2) — access-controlled storage of progress photos and workout media, served via short-lived signed URLs.
• RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions.
• PostHog — product analytics and crash reporting.
• Google Cloud Translation API — on-demand translation of dynamic, database-stored content.
• Railway and our web hosting provider — infrastructure that runs our backend and website.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, property or safety of Prept, our users or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets — in which case we’ll notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data and workout data within 30 days, except where we’re required to retain certain records for longer (for example, transaction records for tax purposes, or fraud-prevention logs). Backups that contain deleted data are purged on a rolling cycle within 90 days.

Access, correction and deletion

You can review and edit most of your information directly in the app (Profile, workouts, plans). You can delete your account and associated data at any time from Profile → Account settings, or by emailing support@prept.pro.

If you’re in the EU, UK or EEA (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you’re a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction of it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — which we don’t do. Exercising these rights will not result in discriminatory treatment.

Notifications & marketing

You can turn off reminder and marketing notifications at any time in Settings, or by disabling notifications for Prept in your device settings. We’ll still send essential service and security emails.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@prept.pro. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

Prept is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@prept.pro and we will delete it.

Workout logs, body-map selections, weight and height entries, progress photos and progress statistics can be sensitive in some jurisdictions. We store this data securely, tied only to your account, and use it exclusively to power Prept’s own features — your plan, your history, your progress charts and gallery. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell it, and do not share it with data brokers. It is only ever shown to someone else if you explicitly share it (see “Sharing workouts & progress publicly” above).

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), database access controls and row-level security, and secure on-device credential storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our service providers operate infrastructure in the United States and the European Union. If you access the Service from outside these regions, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.

The Prept website (prept.pro) uses minimal, functional local storage and privacy-respecting analytics — no third-party advertising cookies. The Prept app does not use browser cookies; it uses on-device local storage to remember your preferences, and an analytics SDK identifier (see “Usage & analytics data” above) to understand product usage.

The Service links out to the App Store, Google Play, and the social platforms you import workouts from. Prept is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or any other third-party platform, and is not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before sharing information with them.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we’ll provide additional notice in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
