Prept and RepReel are the two workout-video apps that go furthest past saving: both extract a routine from a video, schedule it and log your sets. Choose RepReel if you’re on Apple devices (including Mac) and want streaks, badges and rest times. Choose Prept if you’re on Android, save from Pinterest, Facebook, Reddit or X too, or want a free plan that keeps working month after month.

Importing workouts

Both apps take a shared video link and return the routine. RepReel also extracts rest times, which is handy if you follow the creator’s pacing. Prept extracts the muscles each exercise works and the equipment it needs (with an alternative for when a machine is taken), and shows you the result for review before saving.

Prept accepts more sources: as well as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram (Reels and carousels), it reads Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, X and Threads posts, plus screenshots and PDFs. If your workouts come from a coach’s PDF or a Pinterest board, that matters; if they all come from Reels and TikToks, it doesn’t.

At the gym

Both log sets, reps and weights. Prept’s workout tracker steps through one set at a time and pre-fills each set with what you did last time; the source video jumps to the exercise you’re on. RepReel tracks personal records, which is a nice touch when you hit one. Neither app is trying to be Hevy-level analytics.

Staying consistent

This is RepReel’s signature: XP, streaks and badges, plus reminders tied to your schedule. If game mechanics get you to the gym, that’s a real advantage. Prept’s approach is quieter — a progress calendar, muscle maps showing what you have and haven’t trained, plus body-weight tracking and private progress photos — aimed at seeing results rather than collecting badges.

The verdict

On Android, Prept is the choice — RepReel isn’t available. On iPhone, it comes down to breadth versus motivation: Prept if your workouts come from many places and you want muscle maps, progress photos and a free plan you can stay on; RepReel if your saves are mostly Reels, Shorts and TikToks and streaks help you show up. Both have free tiers, so try your three favourite saved workouts in each. For the rest of the field, see the best workout organizer apps.
