Prept vs Pumply: Which Workout Saver App Is Right for You?
Both apps save workouts from TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. We compare extraction quality, planning, tracking, platforms and pricing.

Prept and Pumply solve the same modern problem: the workouts you want to do live inside TikTok, Instagram and YouTube videos, scattered across saved folders you never open. Both apps pull the workout out of the video and store it as a structured routine. From there, they take noticeably different paths — Pumply stays a focused save-and-schedule tool, while Prept extends into planning, follow-along training and progress tracking.
We build Prept, so read this with that in mind — but we’ve kept the comparison factual, and where Pumply is a perfectly good choice we say so. Details about Pumply reflect its App Store listing and public materials at the time of writing.

Saving workouts: close race, wider net for Prept
Both apps handle the core flow well: share a video from the social app, get back a written routine. Pumply supports Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus screenshots and manual entry, and presents the result in a clean, readable format — no complaints there.
Prept reads from a wider set of sources — Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, X and Threads on top of the big three, plus screenshots and PDFs (handy for coach-written programmes). It also shows you the extracted workout for review before it enters your library, with the muscles per exercise labelled — a small step that keeps a mis-read video from polluting your library.
After the save: where the two apps diverge
Pumply’s answer to “what happens next” is scheduling: put saved workouts on your calendar so you know what you’re training each day, with cloud sync across your iOS devices. If your gym routine is “open the workout, read it, train from memory”, that’s genuinely all you need.
Prept treats the save as the start of a loop. The same workout can be dropped onto your weekly plan, opened in a follow-along mode at the gym (routine on screen, source video one tap away), and logged set by set — weight, reps, time. Finished sessions build a calendar history and a muscle heat map showing what you’ve trained and neglected, with progress analytics over weeks and months. In practice this is the difference between an app you check and an app you train with — and it means you don’t need to run a separate logger like Hevy or Strong alongside your saver.
Platforms and price
The starkest difference: at the time of writing, Pumply is iOS-only, while Prept runs on iPhone, iPad and Android with your library synced across them. If you’re on Android, or train with a partner who is, the decision makes itself.
On price, both are freemium-with-subscription. Pumply’s listing notes that its features require the Pumply Pro subscription. Prept is free to start — you can save, organise and train before paying — with Pro unlocking unlimited saving. Either way you should try before subscribing; the extraction quality on your saved videos is the thing to test.
Verdict
- Choose Pumply if you’re all-in on iOS and want the narrowest possible tool: save workouts, file them, put them on a calendar, done.
- Choose Prept if you want the saved workouts to feed a full training loop — weekly planning, follow-along sessions, set-by-set logs and a record of your progress — or you need Android at all.
